2018 | Welfare Center for Abused Elders
As South Korea is getting near to an aging society, cases of elder abuse are increasing. However, facilities for abused elders are in very short supply. Furthermore, the 2nd case of violation occurs frequently in abused elder facilities. ‘Blossom’ project aims to propose user-oriented welfare space as well as personalized treatment space for abused elders who are socially disadvantaged.
The mass focuses on spatial function and gradual change per phase. The design applies gradually rising mass to the sloped site.

Interlocking with ‘Alarm wall’ and Voice recognition technology
Several Korean companies, such as GS architecture and Daewoo Engineering & Construction, have developed a system that incorporates speech recognition technology into their existing smart home devices and are testing them. Elderly Personalized Module | The building is distinguished by colors that are easy for the elderly to recognize, and the modules in the same location are set to the same number.
Drama therapy space is emptied rather than filled for volunteers and the elderly to maximize the space for various programs. This space is full of light and movement. Volunteers and the elderly will create new spaces through communication and cooperation.
Finally, they have got to share small but shiny talents with the community
This is a place where healing seniors can donate their talents to other social under-privileged. Here, the elderly can do volunteer service for the visually impaired and make a tactile book for children. At the peak of the building, this room has plenty of natural light and a remarkable view.
